How sweet is this angel?

This was a joint effort with my friend Jennifer of Raejen Photography- we make a pretty good team- don't ya think?  This little girl is so sweet and precious, full of life.   We had a good time trying to capture her personality.  Look for more soon.

Well, look on the bright side...

One day last week I was reminded how blessed I am to have such a vibrantly optimistic child.  My husband was re-doing the floor in our kitchen,  so he took the big things and put them on the deck after Nathan was already in bed.  The next morning I woke Nathan up to get ready for school and I told him he had to look at the kitchen- I told him he'd never seen it like this before.  He walked into the kitchen and I said "look someone took our table, and our refrigerator and stove."  Nathan rubbed his eyes and took only a moment to say "well, look on the bright side, at least we have lots of room now!"  That's the way he is, always looking on the bright side of things.  How lucky am I?

It's the little things that crack me up...

My little sweet boy has this song he sings at school and it is the cutest thing.    It  kinda embarrasses him cause he is this big tough boy hanging out with Daddy every day after school so he only sings it when I bribe him.  The other night- after bribing him with his favorite luxury *falling asleep in my bed* I was able to video him singing part of it-  you can see it here- be prepared to laugh so cute and sweet.

PIZZA!!

Last night the two of us were on our own for dinner cause Daddy was working late.  I asked my son what he wanted for dinner and of course he said "PIZZA" but this time with a little twist- he wanted to make it himself.   So after a  quick trip to the grocery store for pizza crust, we got home and he got busy making his pizza.  You can see the whole progression here,  he made a space ship themed pizza with a stars (the olives had to do double duty) and some other far out space ship type stuff that he described in great detail.

We had fun and we enjoyed the pizza- after we picked off the olives of course ;- )

Congratulations on Your 40th Wedding Anniversary!

I would like to send congratulations once again to Rebecca and Seneca Foote on their 40th Wedding Anniversary.  What a wonderful couple- they are so loving and committed to each other, as well as all of their friends and family.  It was truly a blessing to get to know them and see all the friends and family who came to celebrate their loving relationship.  Jenny, Laurie and Amy-  Thank you for the honor of being invited into your lives for such a warm and wonderful evening.

Connie and Scott to be parents!!

Connie and Scott were married in 2001.  They are now anxiously awaiting twin boys- who are due around the same time of year that I had my son (September 21 ish) I am so happy for them and I recently got a chance to photograph them when Connie was about 7 1/2 months pregnant! I'm sending best wishes and blessings to Connie and Scott for a healthy delivery!

You're my favorite crayon!

I love making my son laugh-  I could spend hours thinking of silly and dumb things to make him laugh.  It gives me a natural high.  Luckily- I don't have to spend hours thinking of stuff cause most of the time it just comes to me naturally.  With him starting school- I have been missing him a lot and feeling extra sappy.

During our normal bedtime routine- he does the pajamas thing, then the bathroom thing, then we lay down together and I put on soft music and tell him how much I love him.  But how do you know a five year old gets it?  Does he know I would lay down on the train tracks with a train coming full speed if he needed me to?  So during this little goodnight talk I'm telling him how God made him just perfect for us,  how I always wanted a little boy just like him, how he makes me so happy, how important and precious he is to us and how I just love being his mommy.  That's all the usual stuff but then- I decide to take it a bit further.   I said "do you know what important and precious means?"  He said "what?" I said " it's like when you got the new box of crayons, and they were all so clean and sharp and they all looked good but there was one that was the best- the favorite, probably a blue one- the one you wouldn't want to get broken or lost" ...

(Now there's a side story here I had forgotten about until I brought up the crayons.  Our dog Divot has eaten TWO full boxes of 64 crayons- the new ones that I posted about earlier- yep, those and the replacements- are gone.  The dog ate them and then spent two days whining at the door to go out and deposit rainbow colored poop in the yard - so then our conversation took a weird, twisted sense of humor turn.)

"I said- your the crayon I wouldn't let the dog eat and poop out in the front yard!  I would keep you safe and away from the dog."  We both just started laughing and trying to catch our breath.  I said "that was a bit over the top wasn't it?"  he says "yeah mom, the crayon poop thing was a little over the top"

So lately when I pick him up and hug  him, I tell him he's my favorite crayon and we both smile.

First day of Kindergarten

Anyone who knows me knows how much I loved being a stay at home mom, Yes- I cried when I left him in his classroom.  He had a blast the first day and told me he loved his school.   I asked him if he made any new friends? He said "Nah- I was too busy learning stuff"

Today when I picked him up he said he had an even better day today. :-)

I will survive.
